Lapping polishing

Lapping is a mechanical operation whose purpose is to improve the surface condition of a part by removing material after any machining operation : milling, turning, rectification, spark machining.

Flat lapping involves the use of an abrasive on a lap.

We can make a distinction between 3 degrees of surface condition quality, according to the desired roughness:
